Stellenbosch is the second oldest town in South Africa. It’s situated on the Eerste Rivier (First River). It was established by Simon van der Stel in 1679 and is also known as Eikestad (Town of Oaks), and boasts a mix of historical Georgian and Victorian buildings and modern architecture.
Surrounded by majestic mountains and picturesque vineyards, history, art and delicious food are integral parts of this vibrant town. Stellenbosch University is one the most prestigious universities in the country and its students add to the exciting life of the town.
